WNC to Exhibit 5G Private Network Solutions, Wi-Fi 7 Devices and TCU Development Kit at MWC 2023
Share on
Hsinchu, February 22, 2023—Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC), a leading provider of communications solutions, is exhibiting a number of advanced automotive, communications, smart home and value-added software products at MWC 2023, showcasing its vertical integration ability. Among these, 5G Open RAN solutions, Wi-Fi 7 software and hardware and an advanced telematics control units (TCU) development kit will be in the spotlight.
5G O-RAN Solutions
WNC’s 5G end-to-end O-RAN solutions include an Arria® 10 FPGA-based O-RU (Radio Unit), an Agilex™ FPGA-based SmartNIC with 5G FEC, and a Xeon® D based 5G slim server for CU/DU, an industrial router, and L2/L3 integrated software, and have passed IOT testing by Taiwan’s largest telco, Chunghwa Telecom. Among these, the O-RU (available in CBRS/n77/n78/n79 SKUs) has been awarded the O-RAN ALLIANCE’s Conformance Certification and has also helped a partner obtain an E2E System Integration Badge, issued by the Open Testing and Integration Centres (OTIC). These solutions have been utilized by WNC to build a highly efficient and safe smart factory. WNC has also accelerated the implementation of 5G O-RAN private networks for use cases in smart manufacturing, healthcare, surveillance, and enterprise applications.
Wi-Fi 7 Products Already Rolling Out
WNC has long been developing Wi-Fi products for the consumer and enterprise markets. In the first half of 2022, WNC became the first communications solutions provider to roll out an enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 7 access point (EAP) model. This EAP integrates Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology, 4K Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and features tri-band scanning radios controlled by WNC software. This enables the device to combine 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands into one aggregated connection, scan nearby signals, and automatically switch among channels to ensure optimal connection quality and uninterrupted data transmission while reducing latency and interference. In addition, WNC is developing a router that can optimize quality of experience in home Internet services. Boasting 2.5 GbE LAN and 10 GbE WAN, WNC’s Wi-Fi 7 home router utilizes star topology to enhance signal coverage, improving transmission rates by 20% and providing faster and more stable connections for video streaming and online gaming.
Advanced TCU Development Kit
As software-defined vehicles become more and more widespread, automotive solutions providers are integrating communication components, software and hardware on automotive platforms in order to enable innovative vehicle functions and fresh passenger experiences. WNC’s advanced TCU development kit effectively integrates network access devices, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GNSS in a compact package. The kit utilizes cellular networks to support mobile communications, and V2X modules can be added on an on-demand basis, providing more comprehensive automotive communications functions. In addition, the kit supports the eCall system and uses IP67 water- and dust-proof enclosures, allowing it to operate normally even after temporary immersion in water up to one meter in depth. An optional version of the kit comes with a backup battery inside, ensuring continual power supply during emergencies.
