WNC Receives 2024 Sustainable Leading Enterprise in Healthy Workforce Award

Hsinchu, November 5, 2024 – The Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Ministry of Labor held the Sustainable Leading Enterprise in Healthy Workforce Award ceremony on November 5. WNC was honored to receive the Role Model Award in the manufacturing sector category. This award recognizes the company's care for its employees' health as well as occupational safety and hygiene, and its commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. WNC also works with stakeholders to establish a health and safety value chain.

WNC has established an occupational health management system, providing employees with more healthcare measures than legally required. For example, we fully cover new employees' medical examination fees and offer additional free examination items in annual health checkups, including abdominal ultrasound, uric acid, fetal globulin, and glycated hemoglobin tests. We also offer low-dose CT scans to help employees detect lung cancer or cardiovascular diseases, which also benefit employees' families. In addition, we conduct health risk stratification management for employees at different ages based on health checkup results, providing health improvement activities tailored for those with potential disease risks. These measures help employees prevent disease and enhance their health. During flu season, we also offer free flu vaccination to employees and personnel working at WNC's sites.

To create a diverse and inclusive work environment and encourage work-life balance, we grant new employees five days of annual leave once they report to work, and also adopt flexible work hours and hybrid work modes. To support new parents, we give female employees 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and 10 days of paternity leave and pregnancy checkup accompaniment leave for both male and female employees, both exceeding legal requirements. Moreover, there are gender-friendly restrooms at all our sites and clubs for foreign employees as well as multi-cultural courses to incorporate DEI concepts into our corporate culture and business operations.

With regard to occupational safety and hygiene, WNC strives to create a safe workplace through digital tools with a zero-accidents objective. WNC has established digital systems to analyze injury incidents, abnormalities, and false alerts to effectively classify risks and formulate prevention strategies. We also organize virtual scooter riding activities for employees to enhance their road safety awareness. To raise employees' awareness of safety and cultivate a workplace safety culture, we hold safety performance competitions to encourage employees to implement safety protection measures.

WNC not only cares for employees' welfare, but also facilitates the concept of a healthy work environment and workforce for our supply chain, hoping to bring positive changes to our suppliers. We invite suppliers to fill out an occupational health and safety performance self-evaluation questionnaire, evaluate suppliers' sustainability risks based on international assessment criteria such as EcoVadis, conduct RBA audits on suppliers, and convene sustainable supply chain conferences and key supplier performance consulting meetings. We believe that a healthy and safe workplace, where employees feel valued and supported, along with a strong value chain, make employees and partners happy in their work and in turn strengthens the company's competitive advantages.
