Hsinchu, December 10, 2024 – Network communications manufacturer Wistron NeWeb Corporation’s (WNC) efforts in sustainability have received further recognition with its listing on TIME magazine and Statista’s World's Best Companies in Sustainable Growth 2025. From the original 1000 companies under consideration WNC was ranked 78th globally and number one amongst Taiwanese technology services, hardware and IT industry players, alongside international brands such as Arm, NVIDIA and ASML.
This is the first year that TIME has released a World's Best Companies in Sustainable Growth list. By doing this it seeks to encourage global enterprises to pursue low-carbon transitions and recognize outstanding performance of companies in sustainability while maintaining financial stability. Evaluation for the list is based on publicly disclosed information of companies and third party environmental data in the dimensions of revenue growth, financial stability and environmental impact. Indicators adopted included revenue growth between 2021 and 2023, and F-score and Z-score financial metrics in order to measure a company’s financial health and resilience in times of economic uncertainty. In the environmental impact dimension the evaluation covered both direct and indirect carbon emissions, categorized as Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions, ratio of renewable energy use, water consumption and waste management. From the original 1000 companies under consideration 500 were selected. WNC’s final score was 83.08 which earned it a ranking of 78th.
WNC’s inclusion on this list is a great honor and an important motivation for the company to keep moving forwards in its sustainability efforts. WNC CSO and spokesperson Molly Lin said, “As a leader in Taiwan's network communications industry, we take innovation and sustainability as our core strategic focuses. Through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and our RE100 commitment, we are making continuous breakthroughs in low-carbon transition and green product design, while realizing our corporate responsibilities and achieving financial growth”.
Over the last decade WNC’s revenue has more than doubled. Our three major business groups of automotive electronics, network communications and smart home all have clear technology and product blueprints that not only generate stable profits and establish a leading position for us in the technology sector, but also bring considerable value to stakeholders. At the same time the company is fully committed to SBTi, in particular to reducing Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% (base year: 2022) and Scope 3 emissions by 25% (base year: 2023) by 2030. In addition, in accordance with RE100 we are committed to achieving 100% renewable energy use by 2040 and net zero emissions by 2050. As of 2023, WNC has completed greenhouse gas inventories of all sites ahead of schedule and has obtained third-party certification of this. Annual Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by more than 10%, our renewable energy usage rate has reached 16%, the waste recycling rate has reached 87%, and water usage intensity has dropped by nearly 27% compared with 2020.
In order to expand the impact of our sustainability efforts WNC has created a supply chain management system that evaluates suppliers based on the EcoVadis platform, executed RBA audits and hosted supplier conferences. WNC is committed to continuous improvement of operational efficiency to pursue even higher sustainability objectives and hopes to do this hand in hand with stakeholders and global partners.
