Hsinchu, December 23, 2024 – WNC’s performance in sustainability has once again been recognized by S&P Global. Last year, WNC placed in the Top 1% category for the communications equipment industry in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024. This year, WNC was further selected as a constituent of the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for the first time, the first Taiwanese network communications company to be thus honored. This highlights WNC’s efforts in sustainable development and corporate governance, and the fact that its products and profit performance are favored by investors and highly recognized internationally.

The DJSI is one of the most iconic sustainable development indices in the world and is regarded as an important reference by many investment institutions. The DJSI adopts a rigorous Corporate Sustainability Assessment to evaluate the sustainability performance of tens of thousands of companies around the world every year based on the three major ESG aspects. In 2024, companies from 62 industries participated in the assessment. Only the top companies in each industry are selected as DJSI constituents.

WNC’s Chairman Haydn Hsieh said, "Being selected as a constituent of the DJSI Emerging Markets Index for the first time is an important milestone for WNC, as it is a testament to our ongoing efforts in ESG and demonstrates our long-term commitment to innovation, sustainable development, and sustainable business practices.” He further expressed, “In the past ten years WNC has seen its revenue more than double. This is due to our clear technology and product strategies in the three major business areas of automotive electronics, network communications and smart homes. Via SBTi and RE100 we are continuing to seek breakthroughs in low-carbon transformation and green product design, balancing corporate responsibilities, sustainable operations and financial growth.”

In particular WNC is committed to reducing its Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% (base year: 2022) and Scope 3 emissions by 25% (base year: 2023) by 2030. In addition, in accordance with RE100 objectives, WNC is committed to achieving 100% renewable energy use by 2040 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. As of 2023 the company has completed greenhouse gas inventories of all sites ahead of schedule and has obtained third-party certification of this. Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by more than 10%, our renewable energy usage rate has reached 16%, the waste recycling rate has reached 87%, and water withdrawal intensity has dropped by nearly 27% compared with 2020.

The selection of WNC on the DJSI Emerging Markets Index highlights WNC's outstanding performance in financials, product innovation, market influence and sustainable operations. WNC will continue its efforts in pursuing sustainability, expand its influence in sustainability-related matters, and work alongside stakeholders and global partners to pursue additional sustainability goals to create a sustainable and prosperous future.
