WNC a Double Winner at the 2023 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards

Hsinchu, Taiwan, November 15, 2023 — The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy held its 2023 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) Ceremony at the Grand Hotel Taipei this morning. This year, WNC was honored with the Platinum Medal in the Corporate Sustainability Report Awards category and the Social Inclusion Leadership Award. This marks the tenth successive year that WNC has been recognized at the TCSA. 

WNC is deeply committed to sustainable development and corporate social responsibility practices and implements measures concerning workers’ rights, product liability, environmental protection and occupational safety and health in its day-to-day operations. WNC discloses information regarding sustainability via its sustainability report in accordance with international initiatives and reporting principles such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), and TWSE's Sustainability Disclosure Indicators - Communications and Internet Industry. In its report, WNC's strategies, short-, medium- and long-term goals, and action plans are clearly explained, and the report is verified by a third party. Based on the report, WNC also discloses its sustainability actions in the ESG section of the Company’s official website.

The projects that helped WNC earn the Social Inclusion Leadership Award were based on good food for employees and support for smallholder agriculture. In consideration of employees’ health, WNC launched the good food movement at the end of 2013, becoming the first company in the Hsinchu Science Park to introduce organic smallholder produce in its cafeteria meals. In addition, WNC works with social enterprises to support smallholder farmers via contract farming and hosts promotions of agricultural products. The connections WNC helps form between social enterprises and smallholder farms and between cafeteria vendors and employees thus create a virtuous cycle. In 2022, WNC became the first large-scale enterprise to join the Green Food Declaration and all its cafeterias were transformed and positioned as “Green Marketplaces.” In 2023, the cafeterias obtained green restaurant certification issued by the EPA.
Receiving two awards at TCSA this year marks significant recognition of the long-term efforts WNC has invested in protecting the environment and creating a better society.
