WNC to Exhibit Wi-Fi 7 Devices, 5G Private Network Solutions and Smart Sensors at CES 2023

Hsinchu, January 3, 2023—Wistron NeWeb Corp. (WNC), a leading provider of communications solutions, is unveiling a number of solutions based on its vertical integration strategy at CES 2023 (Veronese 2504, Venetian Expo). Products to be exhibited range from communications, automotive, antenna designs, and smart home devices to value-added software. Among these, Wi-Fi 7 POC models, 5G O-RAN solutions for different scenarios and advanced smart sensor solutions will be in the limelight.

Wi-Fi 7 Products Already Rolling Out

WNC has long been developing Wi-Fi products for the consumer and enterprise markets, and its Wi-Fi 7 solutions span both physical products and value-added applications. In the first half of 2022, WNC became the first communications solutions provider to roll out an enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 7 access point (EAP) model. This EAP integrates Multi-Link Operation (MLO) technology, 4K Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and features tri-band scanning radios controlled by WNC software. This enables the device to combine the 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz bands into one aggregated connection, scan nearby signals, and automatically switch among channels to ensure optimal connection quality and uninterrupted data transmission while reducing latency and interference. In addition, WNC is developing a router platform that can optimize Quality of Experience (QoE) in home Internet services. Boasting 2.5 GbE LAN and 10 GbE WAN, WNC’s Wi-Fi 7 home router utilizes star topology to enhance signal coverage, improving transmission rates by 20% and providing faster and more stable connections for video streaming and online gaming.

5G Open-RAN Solutions

WNC’s 5G end-to-end open-RAN solutions include its versatile enterprise i-Router, FPGA-based Radio Unit (RU), SmartNIC, 5G slim server, and system management software. The solutions have passed testing by Taiwan’s National Development Council and Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecommunications company in Taiwan, and have been utilized by WNC to build a smart factory that puts into practice Industry 4.0 concepts. WNC has also accelerated the implementation of 5G O-RAN POC for customers in manufacturing, healthcare, education and entertainment scenarios. For example, WNC has deployed 5G private networks in public hospitals in Taiwan to enable real-time transfer of patient data between emergency rooms and data centers. WNC has also provided 5G O-RAN solutions to a well-known telecommunications provider, enabling it to deliver 3D immersive experiences in its 5G exhibition areas at an Airport MRT station and provide high-speed, low-latency 5G connectivity at an e-sports event.

Advanced Smart Sensor Solutions

WNC also offers advanced solutions that integrate 60 GHz radar sensors for automotive applications and smart home security. For in-cabin scenarios, its 60 GHz radar sensor detects and identifies the breathing and heartbeats of up to five vehicle occupants. Coupled with WNC’s exclusive 3D point cloud algorithm, the radar can distinguish children or pets from adults, thereby lowering the risk of children or pets being accidentally locked in cars.

In terms of smart home security, WNC has rolled out an innovative camera solution that incorporates sensor fusion. Using embedded AI detection software and neural networks, the solution is able to distinguish between persons, vehicles and packages for a variety of end-user applications. Combined with the information provided by the radar, the solution can give a bird’s eye view of a property and track routes of potential intruders. Moreover, thermal sensors (TMOS) address the pain point of high false alarm rates of traditional passive infrared (PIR) sensors. This innovative solution provides security and privacy protection around the clock, giving customers complete peace of mind.
