WNC Partners with National Cheng Kung University in Cultivation of International Communications Industry Talent

New Scholarship Program with NCKU

Hsinchu, Taiwan — July 12, 2022 — Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC) and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) signed an MOU for an NCKU-WNC Talent Cultivation Scholarship on July 12, 2022. All international students pursuing a master’s degree at NCKU qualify to apply for this scholarship. Winners of the scholarship are also offered the opportunity to work in the communications industry upon graduation. WNC has established a long and fruitful partnership with NCKU through previous collaborations. The understanding between the two entities lays a solid basis for this new scholarship program.

With the aim of cultivating talent for the communications industry, the NCKU-WNC Talent Cultivation Scholarship is composed of three elements: “scholarship, internship, and work opportunities.” Students can familiarize themselves with industry conditions during internships at WNC and are offered the opportunity to work in the Company upon graduation. Upon graduation, winners of the scholarship can choose to work in the Hsinchu Science Park HQ, our soon-to-be-completed Southern Taiwan Science Park facility, or in overseas offices or plants in China, Vietnam, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. In addition, once the Southern Taiwan Science Park facility is completed, there will be about 300 job openings in R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality control and project management.

A Promising Future: From NCKU to WNC

“As a leading company in the communications industry with partners around the globe, WNC has invested numerous resources in technology development while putting great emphasis on enhancing employees’ skills in cross-functional collaboration and cross-cultural communication,” said Dr. Jeffrey Gau, WNC’s President and CEO. “WNC and NCKU have formed a solid understanding via a number of industry-academia programs in the past, including the Industrial Technology Master’s Program of the Ministry of Education, NCKU Career Coaching Program and WNC Internship Program. These past partnerships led to the establishment of the NCKU-WNC Talent Cultivation Scholarship.” Dr. Gau added. In addition to investing efforts and resources in the education of NCKU students, WNC has also cooperated with NCKU professors in research projects about communications technologies. The main purpose is to develop technologies that can be applied in the industry and promote the development of the industry as a whole. Meanwhile, researchers participating in the projects can understand the latest developments in the industry and integrate that knowledge into their research.
